How we get started
 
It all began in the late 70’s, in Teufen AR. Back then, I produced a variety of fresh, crusty, whole wheat breads, in my holzofenbäckerei (wood-burning oven bakery), which were delivered daily to the organic food stores, health-product stores and restaurants in the eastern region of Switzerland. About ten years later, in the late 80’s, I became a partner in the Holzofenbackerei Guggenloch in Lütisburg. By 1992, with both businesses growing rapidly, the decision to sell the one in Teufen was made. Together with my wife, who would take on the sales and marketing, we devoted our full attention to the growth and development of Guggenloch.
   
The original Guggenloch production started in 1988 in Lütisburg with a small assortment of holzofen baked, organic, whole wheat cookies. These products were the forerunners of what was to become the fine variety of gourmet organic cookies you will find today. As the demand grew, Gais AR became an additional production location until 1990, when all activity was consolidated in Urnäsch AR. It was then that the change over from using a holzofenbackofen to the environmentally friendly gas oven took place.
 
Through innovative production and marketing strategy, the Feinbäckerei Guggenloch AG has grown to service more than 250 organic food stores and supermarkets, health-product stores, personnel restaurants and hospitals combined throughout Switzerland. We also enjoyed treating the passengers who flew with Swissair in the past to our specialities for a number of years.
